The Foucault Reading Group

Organized by Enis Dinç and Lara Mazurski

The Foucault reading group is open for PhD researchers, MA students, and other scholars who are in interested in Foucault`s ideas and his work.

Michel Foucault was one of the most influential thinkers in the contemporary world, someone whose work has affected the teaching of half a dozen diverse disciplines such as history, philosophy, and cultural analysis. However, he has also been criticized as normativist, reliant on the very Enlightenment principles he attempts to deconstruct. In the Foucault reading group, we are aiming at a constructive critical analysis of his ideas and work. Participants of the reading group will begin with a selection from the “Archaeology of knowledge” and will continue with his other works chosen by the members. We will meet once every month, and people can join as any point during first term. The first meeting will take place on 1st of October.
