Event details of ASCA Summit: Fieldwork & (Re)Emerging Fields
Date

9:45-10:00 Welcome with coffee & tea

10:00-12:00 Panel I: Fieldwork

In this panel, we reflect on the different forms of fieldwork undertaken by ASCA researchers, the issues that fieldwork can bring up (in "normal" times and in times of Covid or war), and the notion of the "field" (what/where is it and how do we account for the colonial history of the idea of the "field"?). Speakers will give short (max. 8 minutes) presentations, followed by a discussion involving the audience.

Moderator: Jaap Kooijman

12:00-14:00 Vegan Lunch @ De Brakke Grond (Nes 45)

14:00-16:00 Panel II: (Re)Emerging Fields

In this panel, we introduce some of ASCA's new research groups and reflect on what (re)emerging fields these research groups are linked to, broadening out to a discussion of what we mean by "research fields" and what currency terms like "new" and "emerging" have in academic research. Speakers will give short (max. 8 minutes) presentations, followed by a discussion involving the audience.
