The Forum for Film Education brings together scholars, educators, curators, and practitioners to explore the intersections of film, media, and education. The Forum stimulates interdisciplinary dialogue and collaboration across educational, social, and research contexts. By bringing together a wide range of perspectives, we create space for knowledge exchange and future collaborations on both local and international levels. The Forum for Film Education is organized at ASCA in collaboration with Leiden University Centre for the Arts in Society and the Netherlands Institute for Cultural Analysis (NICA).

Activities:

We meet once a year for a 2-day conference on the last Thursday & Friday of November. Throughout the year, the Forum promotes film education initiatives through guest lectures, film screenings, artistic and research collaborations. Our network includes societal partners from film and media education, enabling exchanges between universities, schools, film archives, museums, and community organizations.

Upcoming events:

The 2nd Forum for Film Education will take place on 26 – 27 November 2026 at the University of Amsterdam. An open call for contributions will be distributed shortly!
