Organisers: Walk is organized by: Niels ten Oever (researcher 5G & human rights, UvA), Maxigas (Senior Lecturer in Media and Culture, UvA).  | This event is a collaboration between the UvA, the Amsterdam municipality, and the ObA, it was made possible by Global Digital Cultures and IN-SIGHT.it (grant MVI.19.032 as part of the MVI programme).

Who controls your data? And who should? With the rise of  the smart city, ever more sensors, devices, and antennas capture your information. They make your digital interactions possible, but also shape them. This infrastructure walk invites you to observe the datastreams that flow through the city. Join us on a sight-seeing tour of 5G networks around the Bijlmer Arena!.  As an alternative to an afternoon of historical walks and bird watching, we invite you to see and discuss new technological developments trialled in your neighbourhood.  Even if these developments take us to the future, they easily fade into the woodwork.  We look for ways to make them visible and expose them to the public.

The walk is followed by a discussion and hot drinks at the library.

Note the weather: take appropriate clothing as it might be windy or rainy.
