How Israeli universities deny Palestinian freedom
Between 13-17 May, Dr. Maya Wind will tour the Netherlands with her new book titled: ‘Towers of Ivory and Steel: How Israeli universities deny Palestinian freedom’ (Verso, 2024). Maya Wind is a Killam Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Anthropology at the University of British Columbia. Her research on the reproduction and international export of Israeli security expertise has been supported by the Canadian National Science Foundation, the Social Science Research Council, and the Canadian Killam Laureates Trust. On 16 May, Dr. Maya Wind will be giving an introduction to her book at UvA. The talk will be followed by comments by Omar Barghouti (PhD candidate at UvA and co-founder of the Palestinian Campaign for the Academic and Cultural Boycott of Israel) and Prof.dr. Sarah Bracke, Professor of Sociology of Gender and Sexuality at the UvA. Collectively organised by Palestine Solidarity Scholars at Free University Amsterdam, the University of Amsterdam, and ASCA.
