Veganism is more than a lifestyle or health choice: eating animals is also a political issue, for many different reasons. Because the way we treat non-human animals is political and non-human animals are also political actors, because eating animals contributes to the rise of zoonoses and pandemics as well as the climate crisis – one of the biggest political problems worldwide –, and because the exploitation and exclusion of animals is intertwined with the exploitation and exclusion of humans. On this afternoon we discuss the politics of veganism, or perhaps veganisms, and intersections between different forms of oppression. There are lectures on queer veganism and just farming, a literary intervention by Carolina Trujillo and a plenary discussion about veganism in politics. Everyone is welcome!
